After many years in credit control, I’m still astonished at the incredible amount of documentation that even small companies need to hold. It’s often kept as hard copy, but now more commonly on secure servers. But it’s so important to be able to change the permission levels that control access and editing at the time of filing.

It’s a common misconception that surveys are expensive and complicated to set up, but in fact they are best kept very simple. >Keep them relaxed, brief and ‘conversational’. You do not need to ask everybody everything at once.


Just focus one of the five main factors of the business. The order process, deliveries, products, customer service, and value. A few simple questions, each with four possible answers will reveal incredibly valuable information.


There is no point in asking 5000 people to participate, if the trend is recognised within the first 100 surveys. Identify the trend quickly, and react positively.


Remember that it’s equally important to find the things that are ‘right’ as the things that are ‘wrong’. Give your customers more of what they need and want!
